In 1987, Fireplaces & Things opened its doors with owners Jim & Paulette McKinney running the show with a small building
located on Beverley Street in Staunton, VA. Starting with only a vision and some innovative ideas, the McKinneys built their
fireplace company from an order-as-needed fireplace supply into a total hearth product supply warehouse and installation company.
They soon realized their small office building was not going to be big enough to handle the work load. In 1989 the company
moved to Central Avenue, its present location, where they regularly install products in a dozen counties. From their new
location they can warehouse granite, marble, slate and produce a variety of mantel styles and cabinets.
Following the retirement of Mr. McKinney, Dale Gould came to the helm of the business in 2005 with the philosophy of making
hearths a fine art. Since the business built its reputation on giving attention to detail with each installation, building
contractors are comfortable using Fireplaces & Things as their product supplier.
